The Beaches Of Skiathos

Skiathos is famed for its fantastic beaches, there are over 60 of them scattered along the pretty coastline. They consist of a string of beautiful bays with beaches of fine golden sand, separated from each other by headlands covered with low bushes, pine and olive trees.

The more secluded beaches on the northern side of the island are mostly accessible only by boat. Please contact Victoria Complex staff to find out how to get these numerous beaches.

You will also find that it is generally windier on the Northern coast of the island, so unless you fancy getting sand blasted, don't go over if it's a windy day.


Megali Ammos Beach Megali Ammos Beach (Long Beach)
This is the town beach, and is situated on the South West side of the town. It is very popular with tourists and locals alike and has a good selection of sun beds, umbrellas, restaurants and tavernas. The beach is shingle and numerous watersports can be found here.
Achladies Achladies
This is one of the most popular beaches on the island. The hotel complex that can be found behind the beach offers a cosmopolitan ambience, with many tourists, numerous umbrellas and many tavernas. If you get tired of lying in the sun you can visit the Esperides pool bar for a refreshing cocktail or if your feeling energetic there are watersport facilities situated on the beach.

Tzaneria And Kanapitsa Beach Tzaneria And Kanapitsa Beach
These beaches can both be easily reached by taking the local bus to the Plaza bus stop. The first bay you will come to is Tzaneria Beach, which may be seen from the main road. If you continue walking down the path for approximately 10 minutes it will lead you to Kanapitsa Beach with its many facilities and a taverna.
Vromolimnos Beach Vromolimnos Beach
The beach of Vromolimnos was named after the lake that is situated just behind it and it is actually one of the most beautiful on the whole of the island. The fine sand here is almost white, and the water is crystal clear, with a good selection of facilities available for all. The beach can be reached by taking local transport, to the Nostos bus stop, then by walking along the road for another 100 yards until you find a path on the left. Follow this path for approximately 10 minutes and it will lead you straight down to the beach.

Tzaneria And Kanapitsa Beach Kolios Beach
This is a small but lively beach situated just before Bus stop 14. It has soft golden sand and gently shelving waters. There is a taverna serving tasty salads, sandwiches and snacks on the beach. Sunbeds, umbrellas and watersports are also available.
Platanias / Aghia Paraskevi Beach Platanias / Aghia Paraskevi Beach
This beach was named after the small church situated just behind it and is also known as Platanias. It's a long sweeping bay of fine golden sand, with plenty of facilities for all the family. It is approximately 8 kilometers from Skiathos town, and easily reached by local transport or car hire.

Troulos Beach Troulos Beach
Again, this is an extremely popular beach, particularly during high season. However, in spite of that, the beach is always kept perfectly clean and unspoilt. Vou will find many visitors who are particularly fond of the whole area and return time after time. There is a taverna that offers a great variety of fresh fish amongst other things, and also sunbeds, umbrellas and watersports are available.
Koukounaries Beach Koukounaries Beach (Pine Tree Beach)
This takes its name from the umbrella pines that grow densely around it; Koukounaries is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Greece. It is ideal for children as the golden sand shelves gradually into the sea. There is a snack bar on the beach and for a full lunch a selection of tavernas are just a few minutes walk away. The facilities are excellent, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a wide variety of water sports.

Please Note: the forest here is one of the three most famous pine forests in Greece and is of great botanical interest. There is a protection order on it.

Banana Beach Banana Beach (Krassa)
This beach has two names as above, but is generally recognised by locals and holidaymakers as "Banana Beach". To get to it car hire is recommended, or it can be reached by taking the bus to the last stop, number 26, walk back on yourself 20 meters and take the dirt track on your left. Continuing through the pine forest you will pass the Xenia hotel, and along the way you will see signs giving directions to the beach.

This beach is not for the shy and retiring, as it is the official nudist beach of the island!!!
So if it's an all over tan you are after, then this is the place to visit.
Aghia Eleni Beach Aghia Eleni Beach
This beach is located on the West side of the island and can be reached by car or bus. If traveling by bus you would need to leave the bus at the Stop just before Koukounaries (by the Golden Beach hotel) and then walk down a sign posted road for approximately 10-15 minutes. However if traveling by car you can drive all the way down. There is a small taverna and a few sunbeds and umbrellas. Also during the high season watersports are available.

Mandraki And Elias Beach Mandraki And Elias Beach
These beaches can only be reached by jeep or on foot. Take the bus or your hired car as far as the Caravos Hotel, as you come into Koukounaries. Take the footpath just to the left as you look at the hotel. The walk to Elias Beach through shady and fragrant pine trees will take you approximately 30 minutes. Mandraki Beach is a few minutes on foot to the West of Elias beach. From here you will actually see the mountains of Pelion on the Mainland. The walk is well worth it. Or take the road down to Aghia Eleni and take the dirt track near the end at the right this coast road leads to Mandraki / Elias beaches jeeps only!
Asselinos Beach Asselinos Beach
This beach is situated in the North of the Island and therefore tends to be windier than other beaches. There is a taverna on the beach that offers a good range of Greek specialities. This beach is out of walking distance but can be reached by car.

Lalaria Beach Lalaria Beach
Lalaria is situated on the Northern Coast and it's only accessibility is by boat. If you wish to go to this beautiful beach, please contact Victoria Complex staff who will be only too happy to arrange this for you. The beauty of this beach is indescribable, rocky cliffs surround it and it is covered with smooth white pebbles. The most beautiful sight is a rock, jutting out into the crystal clear water that is pierced by a large hole that forms a huge natural arch called "Trypia Petra".

Please Note: We ask that you do not take any of these stones home as souvenirs. The locals are trying to get a protection order on them as year by year their numbers decrease.
Tsougria
This is name of the small Islet that faces the harbour of Skiathos. It is a golden sandy beach and only accessible by boat. There is a small taverna, but no watersports are available.
